A lot of my friends play Halo and hold the X-Box version of LAN parties for Halo, and I play with them too. I'm good at PC FPS's so I have the FPS mindset, but using a controller to aim and move is just foreign. I'm decent, but not as good as I could be. So... I've been trying to figure out if I could bring my PC over with Halo on it, and somehow connect to their games and play with them?

They already have the networking equipment to connect the X-Box's themselves together (I haven't really taken a look at it, but I'd assume the technology is the same as what you'd find on PC - standard router/hub, ethernet cards, etc.).

Anyone know anything about the feasibility of this?

The net working code for HALO on the PC is completly different.

Well, I don't know about halo, but I joined a Quake II game on my friends x-box from my computer. That was pretty sweet. I don't know anything about how he set up the xbox, since I never play it. I'm sure if you google it you would be able to find your answer.

You're not "supposed to" play the X-box version of Halo online. Just remember that the PC version has basically an alternate version of Halo that is multiplayer, diff. color skins for whole teams and addl vehicles, maps, etc. In short you cannot but with Halo 2 I bet this will be possible.

Also, it is possible to play online vs other xbox players, Ive done it before but it was dull.

No, you can't network your PC to their xbox LAN and play both versions on the same server. The PC version's netcode is completely redone from the xbox's. Also, the multiplayer maps on Halo PC are different than in the xbox version. A lot of multiplayer tricks on the xbox don't work on the PC, and the PC has additional vehicles and weapons on every map that aren't featured on the xbox version.

X-Box doesn't have the frg or flame thrower. The Banshee and Rocket Hog are also missing from Xbox Halo. Also, the pistol's aiming is slightly less accurate on the PC version (aiming reticle is a little bigger).

Even if you could bypass the netcode issue, the games are just too different to play between platforms.

Not to mention cd-key vs. no cd-key checks, etc.

Or you could try and run an emulator that auctually ran the X-Box version on your PC. This might be illeagal.. and it might not work.. but its a thought.

When the day comes that I can just network my Xbox to my pc and be able to play multiplayer games, that will be the day when I get rid of a bunch of computers around here lol. $150 for an Xbox is soooooo much cheaper than what I have into each of my computers. I hope that they do get the networking down so that I can do that.

Yea, but I aint leaving my PC till TV's can support full AA/AF and put out 1600x1200. :D

However, I will make an exception to that rule for Halo 2. :D

I seriously doubt there's any usable xbox emulator anyhow.

There are 2 emulators that I know of... I'm pretty sure they are illegal though.
