damnit, i got a new stick of PC4000 Corsair XMS 512MB and tried adding it to my 512MB Corsair XMS PC2700 stick on my Asus K8V Deluxe and now it says that they're not the same speed so its giving me some fatal error and not booting up... any way to get around this?(and keep both sticks, b/c i cant afford another stick of PC4000 yet)

theres 3 RAM slots, a blue and 2 yellow, any certain order/stick in any certain slot for this thing to work?

thanks in adv.

(NOTE this was posted on another forum)

someone told me to manually set the speeds of the RAM..
and..

theres a whole bunch of different timing options in the BIOS, all i can think of changing are the
CAS(2, 2.5, 3.0)(which my XMS4000 stick = 3, and the 2700 stick = 2)
TRCD(2-6CLK)(XMS4000 = 4, 2700 stick = 3)
TRP(2-6CLK)(XMS4000 = 4, 2700 stick = 3)
TRAS(5-15CLK)(XMS4000 = 8, 2700 = 6)
however, there is also the:
TRC(7-13CLK)
TRFC(9-15CLK)
TWR(2-3CLK)
TRWT(1-6CLK)
DDR Clock Delay(50 22, 50 33, 50 44, 60 22, 60 33, 60 44)

i tried leaving all the other settings to Auto and setting the 4 up top to the slowest of the two sticks, which would be 3-4-4-8 (CAS|TRCD|TRP|TRAS) but i still recieved the same error, no matter which stick was in which slot... i noticed when i had JUST the PC4000 stick in, it said my timings were: 3-5-5-8... not 3-4-4-8 which it says on the site and on the sticker on the stick... any suggestions on getting both sticks working together?

system specs are in sig...

I'm not sure of the specifics of the rules regarding signatures, but I'm sure you broke it. It's way too long, shorten it up.

(And do you really need to include every single component?)

what gave you the idea pc2700 and pc4000 sticks would work together..

you always try to run identical mem sticks...

anything else is asking for trouble......drop the 2700 and run the 4000 would be my answer ..sell the 2700 ...then get the other matching stick..

i just figured until i can get some money for another 512 stick of 4000 i would just use these two together.... figured it would slow the 4000 stick down to 2700 speeds... which wouldn't really bother me for now... i just would rather have the gig compared to 512... i guess ill have to sell it or something... thanks..
