Hey all, yet another thread of me fumbling over ram, but it is so expensive in the UK you cant blame me...

Giel 1gb PC3700 2.5-3-3-7 £190
OCZ 1gb PC3700el 2.5-3-3-7 £208

I'm not really going to be kicking the ***** outta this overclock, i am hoping for about 246fbs...

Which do you suggest is the best for the job? I hear that OCZ is good for overclock, so i would love to take this to 246fsb/cas2 or 2.5-2/3-2/3-7 But the geil, how is that for overclockability?

Obviously no two chips are the same but anyone point me to some benchies/review (im not too good at finding them :p) or first-hand experience?

Thanks in advance,

~t0m

The OCZ stuff really tends to be bullet proof and provide outstanding bandwidth for the timings. For 18 difference, go OCZ. If it were 50 or more difference in price, Geil would be an excellent choice.

Crazy, the Geil pc3700 is cheaper than the pc3200 by about £5...

Also, the mushkin 2-2-2 special pc3200 looks nice, but the pc3200 costs £250 O_O why does pc3200 seem to cost more than pc3700?

As i have decided to stop overclocking (see sig) Should i get some of the geil pc3200 golden dragon (its cheap) and push the timings to 2-2-2 with 2.9v? Or get some pc3700 and run it @ 3200 w/low latency (2-2-2)???

ARGH!

Fair enough, but the 3700 seems to be cheaper than the 3200 :-S

I'd love that 2-2-2 special, does it overclock well?

The mushkin special is rated 2-2-2 and you probably can go 220 with it if you give 3.0 vdimm. Your other option is some OCZ EB but that stuff is EXPENSIVE. Another option is go with the 3700 and you can probably get close to 250 at cas 2.5 or 3. You probably won't notice the difference between 2.5/3 and 2. Check out the memory forum. There is tons of info. there about this debate.

"some" geil sticks can clock like a MOFO but those where the older chips about2-3 years back havn't heard anything about them 4 a bit. Get Hynix (pc4000 and above) that clocks nice..
