Would I be better off getting faster Ram?

Right now I have 2x512 sticks of Kingston PC3200 DDR Ram. Im looking to get a good overclock with my 3.0 Prescott Processor and I want to run good stable memory. I dont believe that my Mobo will let me change my memory ratio the way I would want to(I can only adjust to a lower setting 5:4 rather than 4:5) so would it be better to just get 2 sticks of faster memory say PC3500 or PC4000 and not worry about it. Or should I just stick with what I have and change the timings around a bit? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

it depends on how far you want to OC your prescott, you can go on a bit by lowering the timings on your current RAM, and if you want to go further with other timings later on, then you can get better RAM...

If you mean a good OC as 260+ fsb, there is no WAY you will get 3200 up there. Mine is good and gets to 236. I suggest that you get some decent pc4000, it is expensive but isn't all ram today? If you really wana put boot to ass then it'd have to be adata or its variants. There was a post in this forum about some @ 310+fsb

If you mean a good OC as 260+ fsb, there is no WAY you will get 3200 up there.
Look around the forums some and you will find out this not really true. There is a ton of 3200 that will get there and faster in some setups. Hell even 2700 is getting that high. You just have to have the right chips, like the Hynix PC2700 Kingston sells.

Why would you want to change the memory ratio to 4:5? Even if you bought PC4000, you would still only want to run 1:1 (say 250 FSB and 250 memory). The 5:4 setting will let you overclock your CPU using your current PC3200 memory (for example, 250 FSB and 5:4 ratio equals 200 memory).

Ed's right. Even at default speed, it's unlikely that PC3200 will run at anything higher than 1:1 ratio. PC3200 will be right in spec at 250 FSB using the 5:4 ratio (320 setting in the Asus BIOS). Intel systems love the 5:4 memory ratio unlike AMD. Your RAM is fine for a 3.0C.
