View Full Version : I'm looking for a way to SERIOUSLY overclock graphics cards
Ha! I thought that would get your attention!
I'm looking for a way to SERIOUSLY overclock garphics cards...
When you buy v. cheap graphics cards they often come with a fan because they use C*** components.
So is there any way to "unlock" the speed of graphics cards if you put a big fan on it?
Again... sorry for the subject heading!

You will find that we are a very helpful bunch, if you don't sucker us. Please remember this in the future.

Welcome to the forums.
Trickery isn't going to get you very far here, and may even drive some members away from helping. Beware. We like to keep it upfront and straight forward. We will help if we can regardless of your topic.
Fans are very handy, and even some of the best cards have them. Having one does not mean the card's weak, it's good for the onboard CPU to stay cool. Coolness=stability, heat is the enemy. ;)
Some people replace the stock fan, but until you've played with the card using NVmax, coolbits, or another tweaking program to increased your core and memory speeds, you probably won't want to go that far (you might not need to replace the fan).
Download NVmax (either version) from here (http://speshalk.dyndns.org:1812/programs/).

Have you noticed there just seems to be a few comments about your decitful post, with very few people offering advice. It could be worth remebering that each forum member is regarded by the quality of information and the way that they post. In this forum we all have to show respect to other members and the information and help we provide must be taken in good faith. If another forum user decided to be decitful in the reply to your answer you could easily end up with damaged hardware, the forum users here do not wish to be considered this way and thus do not present decietful information. However the very image you have just presented of yourself is a decitful one, Perhaps the joke is on you?

That was a bad idea, sorry. If I were you I would delete it asap, and start a new one, with A PROPER HEADING. Thanks, nothing personal.

I have a geforce 2 MX400 64 with a fan and will be changing to water cooling shortly. At theat time, I will push it to the max! That will be a seriously overclocked video card !

What does MVmax do?
Will it screw up my BIOS?

I posted a thread earlier on " GeForce2 MX 400 Temps" and went ahead and replaced my stock fan w/ a Blue Orb I had from a previous card I fried.
I lapped it, used Artic Silver and my temps dropped 8-9c. I no longer have lag or artifacts. I might even consider bumping up the clock setting again. Cooling is a major deciding factor in O/Cing video cards.
a peltier and watercooling will get you very far in overclocking. Just watch out for condensation! :p

NVmax is a tweaking utility used to overclock graphic cards fitted with the Nvidia Geforce chipsets. It is available from http://www.tweakfiles.com and from my knowledge and experience it will not screw up your bios
I tried NVmax on my TNT2 M64 and it worked!
I don't think it is just for geforce's. ;)

I guess I missed it, but what kind of graphics card do you have?

It's not just for geforces.
I also have a M64 and it works fine, but I prefer RivaTuner.
ok... I'm really sorry
It was just intended as a bit of a joke.
Again, sorry

RivaTuner is alot more friendly :) but whats with the blue bars in the overclocking section? it shouldnt really have that since overclocking is going past the limit anyway:)
