View Full Version : Geforce 2 MX from a Dell comp.
I just bought this card from a friend who pulled it out of a Dell computer (no flames, please).
Does anyone know who manufactures this card? The Dell site is very unhelpful in this regard.
Is it possible to overclock this card? Where should I start?
You can probably overclock the card if it is a geforce 2 MX (be certain first, it should say someplace on the card or in your windows device manager if you're not sure).
Download NVmax (either version) from here (http://speshalk.dyndns.org:1812/programs/). Start SLOWLY increasing your memory speed until, when playing a game, the display/images become distorted in any way. Back off a few MHZ. Then do the same for the CPU/Core values (memory gives you the most gain of performance with video cards, so the core is actually less important to overclock).

I think Dell uses STB.

As Pinky said.
Thanks, guys!
Pinky: Definitely a Geforce 2 MX, says so right on the chipset!
What's the difference between "NVMax.exe" and "nvmax200b.zip" at the link you provided?
I think the zip file is the newest beta software. I can vouch for the NVmax.exe file, I can't the other (haven't used it yet).
The Geforce cards are manufactured by Celestica (www.celestica.com) following NVIDIA's reference design. DELL's proprietary motherboards are also manufactured by Celestica. Celestica is a company that specializes EMS (electronic manufacturing services) for OEM's (original equipment manufacturers). But aside from all of that, it is still a Geforce. I had (still have but dont use) a Geforce 256 SDR in my system and it overclocked like a dream. Im thinking about flashing the BIOS to the latest and see if it performs any better than it did.
