i have a 2800+ amd athlon xp..it says in the control panel that my system is running at 2.08 ghz whats up with that? and how can i overclock the beast!

WELCOME

the XP 2800's run default at 2.08Ghz...so it is running at correct speed...

If you could list your system specs...this will help us help you OC the system...please list what motherboard, ram, PSU, video card and cooling you are using...

the motherboard is good, howerver if you plan on overclocking much, the stock cooling will have to go-- the temperatures(when overclocked) will be way too high and will make your setup unstable

also the 2800+ is just the PR rating for the processor
since even though it has a lower frequency than a 2.8ghz P4, it still performs roughly equivelant

also what type of ram do you have?

aspire ATX-868WUP 420w power supply is that nuff?

enough to start with...but done expect any heavy OC's with that PSU...it wont handle the load of a high OC...
