Perhaps the program doesn't require the full power of the CPU? If your bent on getting your CPU to 100% usage then you may want to try Prime 95.

Its the Hyperthreading Technology on you chip. Run 2 CPU intensive programs like Prime95 and the F@H program and your CPU will jump to 100% quickly.

this is correct anytime you run a program that would normaly take 100% of a regular cpus usage it will only show as 50% on a hyperthreading cpu thats why people recommend running 2 instances of prime95 for stress testing ocs or a prime95 and a f@h thread like pornstar mentioned

no not at all. if your computers running at 60% your getting 2.8ghz worth plus some change when the cpu usage on your taskmanager says your at 50% your actually using what would be 100% of a 2.8 cpu without hyperthreading on. the fact that instead of maxing out at 100% like a 2.8 non ht cpu would your able to do more multitasking and run other programs as if you had a whole other 2.8cpu in your system. you wont be able to process one thread at 5.6ghz but you can run 2 at roughly 2.8 it works alot like how a smp system would operate

also to run prime at 100% youll need to run 2 instances of it then youll see your cpu go to 100%. in reality if you could crunch say 12 units a day with seti for example running 2 instances of seti wont give you 24 units but it will put you up to around 18ish which is a huge gain still for paying the same price you would for a non ht cpu.
