Will I save sys resources if I disable it(in BIOS)?

Also COM ports...do I need them if I use a network card?

COM ports are the ancient RS232 serial ports on the back of PCs. ECP/EPP only refers to the parallel port.

USB printer = no such setup needed
Network card = don't need COM ports.

I have the serial ports disabled on mine as they use 2 IRQs.

first off, why diddnt you jsut try it and find out just a reboot away. Socond, no, you dont ECP, EPP, and one other..i forget, are paralell. COM ports arent usually used, i disable mine.,..but a modem will want one.

If your so upset that i didn't "just try it"...why did you bother even responding?

Why didn't you learn how to spell?

I thought the forums are for asking questions!

They are, just some times people carried away (you may want to look at the Video etc card section...)...

but he does have a valid point, my not just try and test it out... if anything goes wrong you can change the settings back via the default settings or CMOS jumper...

i'm sorry, i wasnt upset, just not in a good mood...its bound to happen to everyone sooner or later....and if i was ticked off, i'd respond just to let you know, because somehow, in the back of my head, i suppose, i feel a need ot let everyone know how i feel...but i know they dont care.

oh, and i can spell, if i think about it...i'm not really known for thinking, though :)

Well...you were right anyway...I did it without any probs. BIOS settings just kinda' scare me...no harm taken!

Sorry for the spelling comment...it was uncalled for (ashamed).
