tried that..the problem is that sometimes when they say DVD they mean that only dvd drive not burner. Also they are from places I have not heard of

Wanted someone's opinion on one that they know work with a 8x DVD burner

I guess I'm not following you. If a DVD drive will fit why won't a burner? Mine look exactly the same. How are they different?

Some enclosure will not play nice with a 8x burner. I have tried 2 so far and both will detect a HDD or normal DVD drive but not my burner.

yes the burner works

also am looking for people's experience aka brand and model.

Maybe you need a different driver for the burner to work over usb?? Just a guess.

no should be plug and play if the enclosure supports it
