O.K. I admit it I'm REALLY ****ed off..................

I bought a new Game Theater XP soundcard for my Computer + DTS Setup - when it works it's really sweet - when it don't it's a sodding nightmare.

The whole reason for upgrading from my SB!Live was due to the well known problem with via 133/a chipsets.

Well I can safely say that my CPU temps are 10c lower with my new soundcard + the crashes and lockup's are finally gone :-)

To get sound to function at all in WinXP RC1 & RC2 I have to set maxmem at 256 - otherwise a horrible screeching comes out of the speakers instead of any real noise :-(

The audio driver's also break DirectX so no games for me at the moment :-(

The drivers are insane, I had to uninstall the latest and keep going backward till I found ones that work. Funny that - I always search the net for fresh drivers and don't use the install CD - not in this case baby!

I can't blame XP for these problems I had exactly the same in Win 2K - in the end I went back to XP.

XP's more reliable than Win2K - wibble, scary - I wonder how many extra bugs MS will put 'back' in it b4 the RTM? It can't possibly release an OS this stable, it would damage it's reputation ;-) lol

Anyway great soundcard under Win98 (****es over any creative crap) just don't bother under WinXP or Win2K untill new drivers are out sometime early October.

WHY WHY WHY did I install RC2 - why didn't I just stick to RC1 which was working spot on - I'd obviously hit upon a strange hybrid driver setup from XP, Win2k and ME for the soundcard which worked with my 512Mb *sigh* :-(

RC one was a no go after a reinstall too *sigh* :-(

Sorry about that rant over.....................
