New to the SETI program... have a few questions

Hi,

im sorta new to OC Forums... i joined wehen i built my first PC in November, and ive built 3 more since then, just as a hobby.. i currently have 3 computers, one is my primary it uses windows, the 2nd one has Freebsd, and the 3rd linux.

since i have DSL and i only use 1 constantly why not help out with your guy's seti program (i didnt like the folding one too much)


i also have a question. i remember watching a program reguardign SETI and they said the government had plans to build a device that would restrict radio waves from entering or leavign the earths atmosphere. Does anyone have any information reguarding this?

I have not heard of such a project and it would be quite difficult to achieve world wide. Probably not impossible, at least to distort or corrupt signals to be of little use. But the cost to do this should outway any possible gains.

If anyone can find such an article please post it for us to read. :)

ill do some searching but it was a world wide project, they said they had a few different countries that were setting up likewise devices.

the program aired on the discovery channel about 3 years ago..

It would be rather difficult to envelop the Earth in a shield preventing outgoing traffic. I can't see any reason for that at this point in time either. At any rate welcome to the team!

I know... i was thinking the same thing when i was watching this...

and then of course it got me thinking... why would they do this.. what are they tryign to cover up???

why would they spend so much money on this?

then i heard... if it werent for my horse, i never woulda spent tha tyear in college.....as soon as i had that thought, my eyes closed, and they foudn me dead in my apartment.....
