I have a small submersible pump in a 2 quart tupperware container, my reservoir. So, my reservoir and pump are outside of my case. I am going to get a Danner MagDrive pump soon, because my pumping capacity is very low right now. I am pretty sure that I want to go with the pump running inline and without a reservoir.

Are any of you running and inline pump with no reservoir? Can you tell me how long you have been running that way and if your temps start to go up after several months? I'm thinking that maybe a very slight amount of coolant will escape from the system, over time.

The info in this paragraph is unrelated to this post, really. but..... I noticed last week that my water pump was making some noise. I couldn't even hear it before. So, I looked at the tupperware container and saw that the water level was about halfway up my pump! The water had evaporated from the open reservoir. So, I added 2 liters of water from a rinsed out Pepsi bottle. I think there was a lot of air in the water, because my ambient temps have risen about 3 degrees C, idle and loaded. Now I need to flush the air out of the system again...... I just thought I'd share that info. My lesson learned is to not just dump the water in there..... Pour it in slowly, on the side, like with a glass of beer. :)

I believe most of us who water cool don't have a resurvoir. Personaly I havn't been running very long with my inline system so I can't really coment on this. If you are worried about tiny amounts of water escaping you can use a fill line. A fill line makes the system very easy to fill and also keeps the bubles out.
