I am wondering what cpu(s) to use on my VP6. I was originally looking at 1ghz PIIIs because I want the fastest possible, but unfortunately the 1ghz PIII do not work on dualley systems very well unless I wanted to spring for a Xeon...don't think so. Thanks in advance for any input!
My P3 1GHz's run just fine and dandy on my VP6 @ 1.13MHz.
What makes you think they don't run well?

Well I was reading and someone said that only the Xeon PIII 1ghz works for duallies. I wasn't sure if this was true or not and thanks for the info. Also someone told me that they didn't think the VP6 worked with fcpga2 chips and that I'd have to use cDo stepping. Is this true and what stepping do you suggest?

Uhm, this seems to be an interesting topic :-)
Now I'm coming from my post about a P///650 Oced@866 on a dual Cpu's Mobo, and I'm thinking to an upgrade for a double Cpu's like a C2 800 or P/// 850E.... ;-)

Who the heck told you that? Might have been the reverse. As far as I know the Xeons only work in pairs, and not single. but I could be wrong. The PIII's definately do work in tandem, you just have to have the same CPU speed. Having sister chips I hear is a mojor bonus.

Is there any particular stepping I should look for or does it really matter with a 1ghz?
All of the latest P3 1GHz are cD0. That's what mine are and they run great. If you order from a place that pushes out alot of chips then you'll almost certainly get a cD0.
cC0 is good too.

Thanks now I just have to get $350 somehow. Dang I wish I could find a job, I am 17 and can work very flexible hours I didn't figure it would be this hard.
I just want to second most of the replies... first, only P3s can operate as dual processors, no celerons work.
I also have a cD0 P3 1 GHZ, awesome proc.
