Hello,
I got home today to find that my comp would start up but all i had was lines on the thing up and down all different colors. So i called BFG to see what they said they quickley said there was nothing they could do and they would send a new card. This is by the way the 2nd nvidia card i have had in this comp. I did not even run the video cards hard actually they were not even overclocked. So i have killed a BFG 5700 Ultra and an Nvidia 440MX What do i think of Nvidia now. They are junk and can not handle the use. So i went today and picked myself up a nice Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB. Now we will see if i have problems and for some reason i dought it. Either nividia just hates me or there just JUNK. I will never have another Nvidia product in my house.
So now can anyone tell me more about the 9800 pro?

Its a good choice in card, but Nvidia makes fine products also... They've been king of the hill much longer than ATI has worn the crown. So I think you just had bad luck - there are people with both companies who have had the same experience. Not to mention, it is quite possible that BFG are the ones that messed up, and the Nvidia GPU wasn't the problem at all.
Anyways, you will be real happy with the card. It has great speed in games as well as very good IQ. You should check out the threads about temporal AA, I think one was started by cowboy X. It increases your AA appearance even further without any performance hit... As long as you can run at high enough FPS and your monitor refreshes at a good rate.
Other than that I don't know what to tell you, except that I would get the latest CATS for that puppy. What hardware do you have backing it up?

Hey i went to DriverHeaven.com and downloaded the new (Catalyst 4.4) and after i got them installed i could not get windows to start i went into safe mode and uninstalled them and had to put the old drivers in. What drivers are the best to run on the 9800 Pro?

I have the same problems with my Asus 9600XT. For some reason if u use any drivers other than the manufacturers released drivers u get problems when u shut off your pc for long periods of time. The best bet is to use the OEM dirvers.

Make sure you read and installed omgegadrivers(ones sponsored by DriverHeaven) correctly, they use different settings than ATI official. Also, DH has a forum where you can contact the driver creator directly. Remember, these are NOT official drivers, and are incompatible with them and if both are installed similar problems may be apparent.

Ok,
One more question how can i check the temp of the card. On my old BFG it had a place to see the temps of the core and memory. Does redeon have something lilke that?

oh.... ummm i heard atitool can detect if its got an r360 core or not, otherwise youll have to take the maze off to find out on the chip its self.
