Is there any point in getting Dual Channel RAM with AMD processors other than the new AMD 64? Does it run as fast with single channel sticks, or is there still benefit to running dual DDR?

i dont know what the numbers say, but i know i can FEEL a difference with my ram in dual channel as opposed to just 2x512....
i dont know if that answers your question though, because i assume you are talking about 2x512mb as opposed to 1x1gb

Not really =\ not an athlon xp anyway. the memory interface is designed for 2.9gb's. most dual channel memory systems running at p c 3200+ can do 4-8 gb's which is way more than an athlon xp can address. its a little retarded even for the 400 mhz fsb athlons which are still capped at around 3gb's

Dual ddr is really of benefit to processors like the p4, that has a very wide memory apature to begin with.
It never hurts though. im not going to tell you to NOT use Dual channel mode. i used it on my athlon xp system and found it to work quite well. however, the overall performence difference was very slight and in my case, not noticeable. I would not miss it if i was looking to get 1.5 or 2 gbs system memory.

In memory benchmarks alone you can't see the difference between single and dual channel AXP systems maybe 5%. When it comes to real world uses and multitasking, you can feel it.

Having dual channel means the rest of the system gets the excess memory bandwidth that's not being used be the CPU. Maybe it's just me but in dual channel my games don't studder as much in parts where I would more so in single channel.

you know, its ironic. but when i went from a single channel board based on kt 400, to my dual channel nforce 2, i actully got MORE studder in some games or 3dmark 03 O_o. i found it extrememly weird.

Must have had something set up wrong. i still got the benchmarks out of it. I cant claim to have really felt it. but i onl yhave 2x256. im sure with 2x512 things would be different.

When you went from a KT400 to the new NF2 board did you format and reinstall everything?
