Hi,
can you help me to understand why my Pep doesn't works great on my system?
With an ambient temp of 29C, the Cpu is around 38C @idle and 46-47C @full load, Mobo 32C, Case 29C & Hd 33C.

I haven't used pads coz there wasn't in the box of my Pep66U when bought, it's strange, but to go I've made, many times to found the right thickness, the pads with many layer of isulating tape and I'm sure that the Hs fit properly now.
About the thermal paste, well, I use always a very thin layer AS II, and I've also lapped a little my Pep with wet/dry sandpaper, grain 2000, coz there was a nice scratch on the bottom :-)
I've tried also with a mod to my Pep to fit two fans, a Sanyo-Denki that sucks and a Delta38 that blows, so the exhaust is faster than the intake, but the results doesn't seems to be better :-(
About the clip, well seems to be right, coz the difference from the temp @idle and @full load is max 8-10 degree C increased in step never bigger then 1-2 degree C, but I'll check better to be sure. At the moment i close the clip on the bigger side of the socket on the Mobo, where you found the write 'socket 370' and in front of the mem module slots.

The airflow into the case is Great with no more then 2 degree C up to the ambient temp: I've used for the intake 2x92mm (rated of 50Cfm) on the left side of the cover that sucks onto the pci cards & Agp, like the 80mm (44Cfm) on front low, and for the exhaust a 120mm (90Cfm) on top of the upper cover and also a 80mm (44Cfm) on the up/back.

I don't know what other I must do, probably I must replace my Pep with another kind of cooler, I'm only a little discouraged at this point :-( what you think guys?

P.S. message received ;-)

What pads are you talking about? There should be pads on the CPU only, not on the HSF.
That really is not that bad for a Pep w/ ambient @29c. The airflow and fan set up seems good. Maybe it is time for a new copper HSF.

I'm speaking of the 8 white plastic pad's generally in bundle with Pep that are used to fit properly the cooler on the Cpu.

Yeah, those pads go on the corners of the cpu, not the HSF. AMD's come with some already in place. You're only supposed to use 4 per CPU, if any at all.

Uhm, I know that are used on the Pep's, infact thare are 4 small circle on the bottom for a right fitting!? :-)

Yea, I'd say the pads go on the PAL, as it says in the manual.

Your temps do seem a little high, but don't worry, my idle temp is 37 at almost the same setup. (1.85v 900MHz). I don't know the load temps becasue I'm still burning in, and when I try to do something, it crashes.

Mine is rock stable, but I'm a little worried and also wanna understand if something is wrong, coz many other guys speaks of theyr lower temps with Pep's, probably all depends by theyr lower ambient temps never reported, this is a wrong way to compare Hsf and temps for me :-)
