View Full Version : Stupid Network Connection Icon Question
Ok I just set up my wireless network and it works fine. The problem is, someone next door must have a wireless because their network keeps coming up and going away. Every time it fades in and out, I get the little icon in the task bar telling me the a network isn't available. How do I keep it from looking for other networks? I tried unchecking the "Show icon in notification area when connected" but it still comes up. I'm sure there's an easy way but I'm lost.

Why don't you ask them if your network is coming up on their computers too.
Just uncheck the box that says: Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings in the properties of your wireless connections under your network connections.
Thanks for the replies guys but I got it worked out.
Smartweb - Our network doesn't broadcast, you have to type the SSID in manually so it wouldn't come up on theirs.
Kendan - that's what I was trying to do but when I unchecked it, it would stop working. Then I realized I was supposed to be using the software that came with the wireless card, so I set it up through that and it's fine now.
I didn't know you were using wireless at the same time;) And yes usually the program that comes with the card is a lot better than the MS one:D
