Just curious about the pricing for these cards. The benchmarks I've taken a look at show the X800 way ahead of the 9800XT's but the price at the Ati page shows them costing less.... Any suggestions as to why? I'm still looking at getting the 9800Pro 256meg when it comes out in about 14 days for $400cnd but maybe the extra $180 will be worth it for the X800 and I won't have to wait as long to order one.

generally, ATi or any manufacturer, will post a MSRP. This is what they suggest that the retail price be, however, the reseller, saphire, leadtech, asus, ect, will reprice based on market competitiveness.

Ok but this is the Ati pricing though when you go to order the 9800XT is $699 and the X800 is $675 (even though their srp is $579). I could care less about getting a t-shirt, poster, and ball cap to show that I'm only half my age by wearing. Of course once you include tax and shipping the card costs about the same as the 9800XT in the retail stores at the moment (about $699). These prices don't really make sense since they are shipping direct from ati and it's not just a SRP it's what they are actually charging as of this moment.

If you're set on spending that kind of cash, wait for the x800pro to become readily available in a week or so. It'll retail for about what a 9800XT is right now. You'll spend a similar amount of money, but get much better performance. ;)
