I was messing around with my ati control pannel, when i saw the truform option. I did some research and found that it has to do with curved surface rendering, so on and so forth. It said that it can make current games look better. I also read that it really has no impact on framerates.
But also this article i found was like 3 years old. I enabled it in the control pannel, but then saw that it says Application Prefrence. So i assume that the game has to beable to use it. My question is:
Do games take advantage of Truform, or look better?

mmmmm, i remember using it once after i found out about it, what it did and how it done it. I used it on CS 1.6, i guess i didnt really like the fact that it took my AK and made it look like a sandwich haha, cause thats exatcly what it done, perhaps it was a bug or something i dont know, but i havented used it sincethen.

If you have serious sam 2 it might have an example of truform rendering and what it is intended to do in the Effects showcase demo.

The app must support it, and most new apps don't. R300 and newer cards also don't support TruForm in hardware like the older cards did, which means enabling the option will use up CPU cycles.

Unreal Tournament 2003 used it and it looked ok, but it wasn't a showstopper. Most new games now use more polygons anyway, or better textures, or pixel shaders, or vertex shaders, or a combination of all to make it look better on ALL hardware.

Madden 2003 looked GREAT with truform compared to without. So does Serious Sam:SE. But those are the only two I've had experience with.

RTCW actually has a option in the game to enabled TrueForm...and it really makes RTCW impressive...

As for Trueform goes...yes the games have to be able to take advantage of trueform for trueform to actually work...

SS, RTCW, Q3, and a few other older games were the only ones that Trueform would actually work on...

As for newer games...just depends...MC2, Vietcong, CoD look very well with TF enabled...(especially on CoD with settings set to extra)...

Also, TF does effect framerates when enabled...and does effect benchamrk scores...
