video and sata

right now i have 1 ide drive and do alot of video editing and converting i was thinking about buying 2 160g maxtor sata drives and puting them in raid 0 would my video encoding and stuff be faster in that configuration than my single drive and if so how much faster

Considerably faster. I have 2 diamonmax drives in raid0 and they are considerably faster than either drive alone... They aren't as snappy as my raptor is, but for sheer transfer volume they are good and a very noticeable improvement from a single drive IMO.
