I LOVE Circuit City

Did anyone happen to see the Circuit City ads in the sunday paper advertising Max Payne for 14.99? At that price I couldn't pass up the opportunity to pick it up even though i wouldn't be playing it for awhile. After arriving at CC and looking around a bit I was having zero luck locating it. I didn't see a display and after a long search in the Action section was yielding no results. I then decided to ask for a little help in locating the title.

Josh: "Hey can you show me where Max Payne is?"

CC boy: "I'm sorry were sold out."

Josh: "No biggie, can i get a raincheck?"

CC boy: "I can take your name, but if the title arrives after the sale you have to pay full price."

Now at this point I lost it and began swearing, I don't recommend doing this, it would of been much better to talk to a manager. To add insult to injury i made special trip to pick this title up before my three hour drive home.

Funny thing is that the whole game rack was full of titles, if something was sold out you would imagine that there would be an empty slot. I imagine that CC help is so efficent that they quickly stocked the empty Max Payne slot with a different title so they didn't waste valuable space.

If anyone actually got this deal or seen the add let me know, I'd be interested to hear your experience.

I saw the ad here and they were sold out as well. I got a rain check and they said I could get it sale price when the shipment arrives on Monday. I had to speak to the GM Dude to get it the associate was being a turd !

Its illegal not to let you have the item at sale price if its in an add. Its part of the "bait and switch" but not exactly.

Its funny you guys mention this... around the first of this month I got the monthly package from one of my supliers.. used to run a game store..

I still get the junk.. ALOT of flyers/advertising material for max payne this month along with demo cd's.. game release sceduals.. ect. ect

most of this junk finds itself in the closet or burn pit... though I keep the nice stuff for collecting.. however my closet is only so big.

u can price match at Target! I did it today and had no problems with the guy in the electronics dept. 14.99 for a hot game and I can trade it later cuz I heard no mp and very short game.

I just visited the CC in my hometown. Max Payne was in stock but at a cost of 49.99. I asked to speak to the manager and asked him if they would match the price from another CC store. He said they would, but I had to bring in the ad. I explained that the ad was in the chicago suburbs and wouldn't be able to get to it. I asked him to call the CC in Crystal Lake and ask what they were selling it for, he did this and then sold me two copies for 14.99 a piece :D

I guess it doesn't really help to swear at the peons, just be polite and ask to speak to a manager. If anyone wants to try what I did have your CC call the one in Crystal Lake, IL.

Quick thinking man. I never yell at anyone in a retail store because it doesnt help at all. You just have to do everything calmly and keep asking to talk to the next person higher untill you get your way.

i know its not nearly as good as 14.99 i got my copy from compusa for 35, go there instead of paying 44 bucks. . .cc has gotton in trouble in the past for not delivering the goods when theres some hot deal havent they?

haha, you americans and your advertising price match schemes...I bet it was based on a misprint, and so they had to advertise it as sale...no way they would purposely sell it at less than half price without a really good reason!
