I downloaded the Quake 3 demo today ( 48Meg. version) and would like to know if this is the one people can use to check out their FPS? If so what are the steps in doing so. I also downloaded a toolkit for it to which was referred to also to use.

Burning pheonix ,
How did you set up the QIII demo I downloaded it the other night and when I get my new system put together (after all the parts arrive) I want to check it out.

Here is what i did to get teh demo to show my FPS.
Run quake 3 demo and when it loads press ~ on your keyboard. Should be next the button next to the #1 key and have to use shift key to get it. It then brings down a text screen to where you type in timedemo 1. Then press ~ again. Run Either of the 2 demo's and when it completes Press ~ once more to show your results.
I get 84 FPS with everything on in the graphics configuration @ 1024 X 768 res. and 55FPS @ 1280 X 1024 res. Seems like most people are using all the settings when performing this test. I haven't even tried the stock settings.
ASUS P4T
1.7 ghz non-overclocked because it shuts down 3d apps when running @ 1869 mhz
ASUS V7700 deluxe geforce 2 non-overclocked yet either
256 RDRAM
etc.
I'll overclock video card later tonight and post new FPS.
I just finally found this. If you want to have a constant display of your current FPS type this in the console:
cg_drawFPS 1
Hope it helps someone.
Thanks Burning Pheonix and Super .
UPDATE:
I couldnt get it to run at a higher resolution than 1024x768 but this is with everything maxed out.
I averaged out 5 demos in each of the 2.
demo1 - 12.6 sec , 107.04 fps
demo2 - 13.1 sec , 107 fps
8k7a , 1.2 @ 1.2 266fsb (42c to 48c need to fix my airflow) , g2 ultra stock

I overclocked my Geforce 2 GTS to 220/275 and set everything to max in setup w/ resolution @ 1024 x 768 and got a 110 fps. Just for the fun of it i ran it also at 640 x 480 with everything turned down and received 189 fps (nothing overclocked).
You .... lucky people!
I get 49.7FPS :D
1024x768, highest texture detail, 16bit textures, and all the lighting and stuff are set on default.
Celeron 600@900, V3 @188MHz.
PS: by any chance does anyone know how to change V3's CV from the registry?
I downloaded and installed the 12.9 drivers for my G2 ultra and my scores went up nicely , I didnt average out the scores but the last one I did was 121 fps I think it was 11.3sec but I'm not certain everything all maxed out at 1024x768. Not bad for a simple download and I'm still all stock no overclock as of yet.
