Antec Super Laboy - Replacing the fan grills

Just set up the Super Lanboy, want to lower temps.

I know a lot of people suggest removing (cutting) the grills... I can see me doing that with the one behind the intake, but I cannot cut the rear unless I cover it with another fan grill (I just KNOW my cat will stick her nose in there).

I guess what I'm trying to ask is: If I cut the rear grill on the case, and replace it with another 3rd party fan grill, will it help? Or pretty much negligible difference?

That depends on how restrictive the grill is.

If it's like wide-open-with-large-square-holes like the one halfway down this page (http://www6.tomshardware.com/howto/20021102/stability-04.html), then cutting out the grill probably won't help all that much.

If it's a small-holes-restrictive grill like this one (http://www.3dretreat.com/reviews/windtunnel/images/case_bare_front_fan.jpg), cutting the grill out will probably help your case temps by a few degrees.

well the fan grills on the back of the superlanboy arent that bad but it will help to cut them out, reduced backpressure may even extend the life of the fans!

if you replace them you should replace them with the round wire grills Linky (http://www.cooltechnica.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CG120&Category_Code=FA) like that one.

Ah, so there is a difference? Was trying to figure out which grills to replace it with.
