View Full Version : Hydor L20 enough for 1/2" tubing and CPU+GPU blocks?

I plan the following WC setup:

Maze4 CPU 1/2" fittings
Maze4 GPU 1/2" fittings
Black Ice Extreme (single)
1/2" Tygon Tubing
Hydor L20
T-Line as res.

Will the L20 be enough for that setup??
I heard that L30 is much louder than L20 (which seems to be almost silent), and in my country L30 is double priced than L20. Noise is very important to me, my mine point to go into WC actually.

Hope your opinions.

Not with the Maze4 CPU block if you're after performance...

See pHaeustus's DD Maze4 test results here: Maze 4 (http://www.procooling.com/reviews/html/dangerden_maze_4_review.php)

Also check out the ProCooling Pump Comparison (http://www.procooling.com/articles/html/pump_comparison__-_phaestus__1.php)

If you don't care about the performance and after a quiet setup, it really doesn't matter that much though. But if you're after performance, since you're using 2 water blocks, I suggest you to go with a higher pressure rated pump, offering better flow.

the L30 isnt always loud but if your gonna go a L30 over a L20 then you should go straight to a L35 . if price is your concern then you may want to find a company that sells all the parts including the L30 and ship it to you and only pay 1 shipping cost.
for cost also substitute clearflex60 for the tygon and use the money you save on a better block or rad.

where in spain do you live btw? and whats your budget and what case are you using?
it may be worth taking a trip across the border to get your parts
if you plan on vacation any time soon

See pHaeustus's DD Maze4 test results here: Maze 4

Also check out the ProCooling Pump Comparison

According to those results, the difference between using a L20 and using a L30 would be around 0.8ºC.

According to the pump comparisson from procooling, L20 with a Maze4 CPU + BIX + 1/2" tubing + reservoir (almost my planned loop, but taking off the reservoir and adding a GPU block), produces a 4.81 L/m flow rate (roughly 1.27 GPM, thats the unit you use right?)

L30 produces 6.25 L/m (around 1.65 GPM) in the same loop.

So looking at that block comparisson you can see there's like 0.7-0.8ºC delta difference for the maze4. So my conclusion is, to improve perfomance the point is not changing L20 for L30 (keeping the Maze4), but maybe Maze4 for RBX and L20 for L30.(WW and Cascade not available where Im gonna get the stuff). No point on chaning only the pump I think.

Tell me if I'm wrong please.

Yes you are right, just changing the pump wont provide much benefit unless you are considering the future. Now going with a MCP600 and an RBX would provide a noticible difference, few C I believe. You should get good results with the setup you already picked out, and obviously the better the stuff the better your results generally. However your money starts going towards diminishing returns. But it does seem alot of people end up changing stuff after long, so try to buy what you will really be happy with.
