I've used ordinary wood screws in the past - just pop down to your local hardware store and get some of the right diameter. The other alternative is to use nuts and bolts, as long as the nuts on the inside of the case don't get in the way of anything inside.

I find old, old computers that people throw out and strip all the screws out of them. I have a little baggy of computer screws.
I agree with Rob, head over to the local hardware store. If you did happen to find screws at a computer store I have no doubt that they would be way overpriced.

I have to agree that old computers are the best place. You can get these wierd little headless screws that are designed for attaching case fans. They work great. I have a bunch of them I harvested from old computers.
what to trade/sell? I have just about everything anybody could ever want. I'll buy um if they are cheap and willing to trade good stuff. how many you got cuz I have fans out the a$$.

I wish this had come up before my brother got to them. Then I would have a fan for half my collection, instead of a promise to stay out of my computer tool kit.
Oh well I have these sweet Sanyo 80mm that are so nice but your tools are important too. here is a link if others are interested.

btw 20 for 1.00 not bad at all.
For audible purposes I've always used machine screws, regular nuts, and rubber washers from my local hardware store. I have a hoss of a 120mm fan running in my case, that most people confuse for sounding like an 80mm, they work wonders.

For my bigger fans I used machine screws with nuts and a cut up mouse pad for sound deading washers.
