Team 32 T-Shirt design contest. I am willing to donate both of these parts to the best designs choosen by the majority here. There will be two winning designs as determined by votes in this thread. If all goes well we will have a choice of two designs on t-shirts.

Also top 3 winners will get a spankin new T-Shirt (thanks Linksep)

CONTEST RULES

Winning designs must contain copyrights as mentioned in linksep' original t-shirt thread (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=287589)

Also if you use someone elses material make sure you have permission. Any required permission must be forwarded to Linksep before posting submission.

Design must be posted in this thread by 5-14-04 Extended to 5-21-04

Winners will be selected by votes posted on or before 5-19-04 Extended to 5-26-04

Winners will be selected by posts to this thread. If possible I'll try to get this thread changed to a poll to make things easier. The two designs with the most votes wins. Once a person posts his/her choice of winner it cannot be changed.

Winning designers must be an active team 32 member. ( to promote membership)

If you already posted your design in the t-shirt thread please get your design pics hosted into this thread by one of the members here that offers free hosting or host the pic yourself if you can.

Please, please size your submission to fit the forum window. I hate scrolling left and right to read posts after a large picture is posted. Designs submitted that do not fit forum window are subject to editing.

First place winner recieves choice of the prizes listed above. Second place will recieve the remaining prize.
I'll pay for shipping too.

All designs submitted become the property of the thread originators. (linksep and myself)

All rules are subject to change and or additions. Feel free to add to these rules if you feel I left out a important item. I'll consider any changes suggested.

Let your talent be seen. Be creative and please keep em clean. This is a "G" rated forum. I'd like to see some designs dedicated to the WWIII thread. Those guys did wonderful things for the team and deserve some recognition.

Here is my first formal entry, I want to give a thank you to Captain Slug for the high-res image of his OCForums Logo. Yes they look similar but we have been corresponding in PMs and trading images :) I happened upon a few protein crystallography websites with some very nice high-res images, and he happened to use the one that I originally did as well.

The white back won't print out properly on grey or black T-shirts.
And single-sided shirt designs would be more cost effective so I'll try to make a design for one.

The protein concept model image was found by Scary_Penguin. I already had the logo design concept complete after entering it in the OClogo contest, but I lost the original file so I had to remake it in high-res.

Altogether about an hour of work.
Me and Scary_Penguin are pretty much working together so if either of us wins I don't really mind if he takes the prize he wants.

I am open to options for other color schemes for the protein crystal, it doesnt take more than some fiddling in photoshop to get some interesting combinations. And I agree that should there be enough interest overall, produce a few different entries in the end as people do have different tastes, like Captain Slug said :)

these designs are looking awesome so far, tismedt, when is this 'contest' ending? also, any idea how much each shirt would cost? if their cheap i'd want to buy a few. captain slug's designs are both pretty nice looking, and i like the scary penguin's bar code idea. great work guys (and girls)

also, i dont know how, but it would helpful if we had an idea of how many people would be interested in buying a shirt. maybe a mod could set up a poll or something.

Depending on what color shirt, and whether the design is color or black and white, each shirt would probably cost about 6-8$ with Shirt, Transfer, Ink, and other small costs here and there for shipping things, etc. I plan on buying 2 or 3 whenever this contest is over :) Captain Slug and I have been doing some corresponding about the best places to get blank shirts, transfers, and best methods for printing, etc.

Note: There are White Shirt Transfers that are CLEAR and are printed in reverse, these can support some color depth, and then there are Opaque shirt transfers that are WHITE (hence the black borders on Captain Slug and my shirts) and can have a deeper color depth printed on them, and they work well on most colors of shirts. Do rememeber that the complexity of the colors in your designs will be reproduced most likely by an inkjet printer. So design accordingly :) Captain Slug can explain it better than me, but that is a basic thing to take into account.

Viable on any light (and some dark) colored shirts, grey would be optimal to fit the Athletic Apparel theme.

Dates are listed in the original post. Also I have nothing to do with the actual manufacturing, selling or shipping. I just donated a couple parts to increase interest in the design process.

Mdcomp had offered to make this into a poll after the final designs are submitted. Linksep and or others will take over from that point to make the shirts and sell them. See the original folding t-shirt thread (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=287589) for more info.

What do you think about extending the deadline a week? Seems there were not too many submissions... Maybe because lots of people were finishing finals this week? I would like to see more designs, and would even submit another of my own if there were more time (I worked about 55 hours so far this week and I'm not yet done for the day, nor is today the last day of my week) :(

I agree with the deadline extension. My friend is very good at photoshop and I think she might be able to make a nice logo. She's finishing up with her finals as she's going to be a senior next year in college. I like all these designs so much I say we print them all. :D

Another though, I think that we should try and make designs for black or grey shirts. Personally, I avoid buying white shirts because they get dirty and cruddy looking a lot faster. I don't know if its possible to get black or grey, but if it is I think we should.

i think we should keep white as a shirt color option. i live in north carolina, and while not the hottest place in the us, it still can get over 100 degrees, so black or grey shirts are misreable. so, i ask the designers if they would please submit black and white shirt designs. it shouldn't be too difficult to alter just the color scheme and keep the same design, right?

I vote designs for black or light grey. Light grey will not get as nasty looking as white over time and will remain cool enough in the hot summer sun.

That is the plan. MD will make this thread a poll and it will be open for voting until 5-26. After that its up to linksep to make the t-shirts available to the masses. Still a little time to submit a design if anyone is so inclined.
