So gang, what's better? A 1.4 AYHJA Y or a 1.4 AYHJAR?

Bump

Same exact question I was asking. I think the R is better but I really don't know. Someone please help us out.

That would the the AYHJAR 'Y' of course, btw.

I cant tell you which one is better, but I can tell you what I got with my AYHJAR after testing it for about one week. I tested it after connecting the L1's on both an air cooled and water cooled set up. I tested at stock voltage, raised voltage, and even lower voltage(this surprised me).

Ok, here is what I got with stock 1.75 volts, aircooled.10.5x133=1400 . It would go 11x133=1463 at stock voltage, but not stable. It would come up with windows reg errors, about every other boot, and would crash while running folding at home. This is pretty good, considering my house doesn't have a/c and it is almost 80 here right now. Im going to raise the voltage, and let you know what it can do at 1.85. I will try and finish that tonight, so I can let it run all night. Tommorow night, the watercooled machine.

Ok, here is the update. At 1.85 volts, it will run stable at 1507(11x137), air cooled. Let it fold all night. Another thing that is interesting, it runs at 1400(10.5x133) at 1.65 volts. Tonight, i will try it in the other machine.

Put the one gig, AYHJAR in the watercooled machine, and tweaked for about two days-the highest I got it to run-stable was 1512(144x10.5) at 1.85 volts. I know that is not as high as some others are claiming, but those are my realworld resaults. I did removed the processor and erase the pencil at the L1's and reconnect with a defrost repair kit. I also connected the center L7 bridge. I tried 1584, (144x11) several times, sometimes it would boot, but it would lock up within minutes.(if it did boot) One more thing-anything above 138-and I lost my usb-devices.(Printer) This has nothing to do with the processor-it does the same with the axia y.

Here is the data off of my processor:
AMD Athlon
A1000 AMT3C
AYHJAR 0125 VPMW
Y6492440001

Hope it helps.

What does connecting the center L7 bridge do?

My AYHJA-Y 1.4 does 1.67 @ default voltage. Runs hot but is perfectly stable with 1.82V. It can do plenty more but my memory is crap (generic Micron that came with the board) so I need some Crucial to get the FSB up.

I am currently running the 1.4Ghz CPU and getting a good 1608 from it as we speak using 12x134 and a Core voltage stting of 1.87v, the 5v reading has an average of 4.88v and a low of 4.78 (SCARY?)

The settings I am at right now seem way better than I was able to get from the 1.33Ghz unit (earlier thread) since I am actually at (and above) the 266Mhz FSB the chip is rated at, so this is good, the total package is running exceptionally cool 39c@Idle and 43c loaded (over an hour playing UT online). Any attempts to go higher by raising the multiplier another step resulted in a no boot situation, increasing the FSB another step results in UT not playing or giving me an error message shortly after launch.

I am just a bit afraid to increase the Core voltage again since the system is running incredibly stable at this point. (edited from my string in another thread)

It should be noted that I carefully and methodicaly increased the multiplier settings 1 step at a time to acheive the current results running (or attempting to run) Unreal Tournament for at least 5-10 minutes and then backing out to check the temps and voltages, it was not however necessary to clear the CMOS after each increase or adjustment.

This initial data was accumulated this morning (monday) at around 11 AM, it is now almost 8PM and I have been running this thing all day with no shut downs and no restarts!

My processor only says AYHJA
the rest of the info looks like this:

A1400 AMS3C
AYHJA 0126MPMW
K0085990234

DONT HAVE A CLUE WHAT THAT MEANS!
hope this helps ya!

robjustice: Wow. Cool. Run Prime95 for 2 hours and see if it's stable. Whenever I have instabilities Prime95 detects and reports them within at least an hour.

Would71: As for the L7 bridges, if my motherboard sets voltage through Softmenu ( i have an abit) would connecting hte L7 bridges give me any more voltage?

Just curious....what exactly does increasing the voltage do anyway? does it allow you to increase the FSB and/or multiplier settings with more stability? just curious...also why do some think that running with a lower multiplier setting and higher FSB setting make for a better overclock? can you explain this to me?

i've just bought a epox 8k7a m/b as well, just wondering if it's a good m/b, and i mean good enough to support the new MP and in the future hammer.

Just be aware that this site has always exaggerated the overclockability of AMD CPUs. They test them in test bed system with nothing else in the box under ideal temperature conditions. You'll never be able to run these CPUs in a full closed box system at the speeds they list. Take off 100 MHz or so and that'll be more realistic.
