I got my ti4200 about 3 months ago and I haven't said anything yet because I realized that most areas were improved upon over my gf2.

When i play Medal of Honor: Allied Assault multiplayer, most levels run okay with some occasional lagging or jumping. What really frustrates me is that on large open areas, my ti4200 performs on par or worse than my gf2.

I tried reinstalling the game, trying different drivers, and turning off all options such as Vsync, aa and af. I also have all the good stuff on performance and what not. This game is relatively old (not to mention OpenGL) and i really do not think i should be getting this type of FPS in the screenshot (I have gotten even less, down to 25ish, but i haven't took any screenshots).

Can anyone give me advice(besides overclocking, card wont do more than 6mhz) on how i can get this card to be running at it's full potential?

PS: I am running on mid/low details on 1024/768 resolution.

EDIT: Screenshot not working, it shows 32 FPS sitting on a balcony looking at the floor :(

No good,

There is no reason an mx440 should be performing better than a TI4200.

Unless when it does, its because there is an intensive use of dx8 that the 4200 is forced to perform thats slowing it down in which the 440 would not be,because it doesnt support dx8.

I realize that there is no reason ax mx440 should be performing better than a ti4200...That's why i posted. I cannot seem to find the problem

Well thats why I said It could be because the 4200 was forced to run an intensive dx8 scenario when the 440 wouldnt have to.

But thats only a guess.

It is best to only have which ever verson of DirectX the video card supports installed... so if it's a TI4200, DX8 would be the best.

Well how should i determine that and fix it?

GeForce2/3 - DirectX 7
GeForce4 - DirectX 8
GeForce FX - DirectX 9

Yea but....everything aside, a gf4 should beat a gf2 in everything right?

I had the same problem with my 4200. It slowed down real bad when i Upgraded to DX9. I had to reinstall windows clean for DX8 to reinstall and then the card flew like a jet.

I wanna say goto start/allprograms/acessories/systemtoold/systeminfo.

From there goto tools/ DiagX i think. This will tell you what version of directX your running. With a directX8 card, I found that running directX9 slowed it down alot.

Just the experiance i had with my 4200.

Some games you can not do this...the newer games will require DX9...no matter what card you have...the game itself will need DX9...

Also,
I have never run into any problems with dx9 being installed with a dx7 or dx8 card in use.

I think there might be some slight performance advantages running benchmarks but never any negative compatability issues.

Benchmarks were terrible with DirectX9 installed with the Ti4200 i had. I got away with Useing nascar2003 season and call of duty by not installing directX9 when it asked. games still worked, And worked better than They did with CirectX9 for some reason.

I had a BIG problem with my kids rig when i gave him the 4200. he likes to play those backyard football and basketball2004 games. They require directX9. We installed directX9 and the games wouldnt run after the intro. After i reformatted and Put DirectX8.1 back in they ran fine.

Thats just the experiance i had, Maybe it was a fluke, or Whatever. Just thought id share it, so Maybe He is having the same problem is all.

Best way around this is to spend a bit over $100 and get yourself a DirectX Compatable Card and then theres no worries. 5600,s and 9600's arnt too expensive now days.

bump for some advice?

Well, It seems that there is some kind of driver or software issue goin on.

So the only way to be sure is to reinstall windows again and start fresh.

I dont know how much stuff you will lose but its seems like the
only way now.

Like i posted, That might be the problem. No Matter what anyone says, Thats what happened to me.

What DirectX version are you useing?

No matter how, Ge4 eats Ge2 - I had 2 earlier (GTS), now 4 - it IS just better. I use DX-9 as many games require it, UT2k4 runs nice on max detail, so it's ok to me, so...

Check your card or what, maybe it's somehow damaged?

Anyway, I experienced some performance drop comparing to DX8, but it's not that bad. My suggestion is to try DX9.0b, maybe some bugs are fixed? Maybe reinstall drivers to some 44. or 45. series, maybe xaero's 44.67p ? Maybe reinstall windows... It's hard to find good solution, as whole thing looks more than irrational.

Do NOT touch 6x.xx drivers, 5x.xx aren't suggested.
It would be real pain to replace Ge4 with FX5600, 'cause of lack of performance.

Yea, what driver set are you running? Cause there could in lie the problem.

I'm currently using 56.72's just becasue i wanted to try a differnt driver from the 41.02's(i belive) i had to see if they were the issue. Same ol' same ol'...I could get ifferent drivers but somehow i don't think it will help

Seems to be a little better now, after i installed WHQL 42.xx drivers. I don't get much lag anymore but it's not quite as speedy as i might have hoped, oh well.
