Can anyone tell me some good software for making a video cd?

I have a video card that has a video in and an .avi recorder. I want to put all my videos on CD for future savings. I have tried using the avi file but they are all so long....like 10MB for 1.5 minute or so.

Please help I am getting very psst at the software I have now.

We don't cover much of that here as it tends to border on legality issues and this forum is primarily dedicated to overclocking and related hardware modifications...

try www.divx.com

vcd is a different format than divx. It is still mpeg2 so not quite a taboo topic. Adaptec ez cd will convert mpegs to vcd or svcd. The nice thing about vcd is that some dvd players will play vcds.

I think thats all I should say on the matter.

Oh here is a good link

I am fairly good at video editing. When creating VCD's I use NERO Burning rom. Works very well. I tried a SVCD once, though it didn't work out. While subtitling End of Evangelion (Most of you probably know) - I just ordered the DVD straight out of Japan, set my DVD player to Region 2, ripped, encoded into Divx using Flaskmpeg at a resolution of 640x480, 3000 bit rate. Add subtitles, encode at 2500 bit rate, then use AVI2MPEG to convert to the correct Mpeg standard for VCD. When in Divx, looks exactly like the DVD, when in VCD, looks about VCR quality.

P.S. it VCD isn't as illegal as many people think. I wouldn't be talking about it if it was. You can use the format legally, but you can't purchase or distribute it.

DVD writers are still relatively expensive, but would definitely do the job.
