which is faster-9800pro-FX5900U

Alright, my friend is looking at two card, the 5900Ultra 256mb, and the 9800pro 128mb.

Which would be faster?

9800pro 128mb, the other one is to slow to utilize the 256MB of vram optimally. And of course you can OC then both, and flash the 9800 to an xt to and the 5900U to a 5950 :)

i researched my card for a couple of weeks before i bought it reading about a dozen reviews on all the high end video cards from ATI and Nvidia. in most reviews i've read the 5900 U is faster than the 9800 Pro coming in very close to the 5950 U and 9800XT. the 256 MB will help you if you play at higher resolutions. in terms of speed and highest framerates in benchmarks i'd put these cards in the following order: 9800XT>5950 U>5900 U>9800 Pro.

Want to find out what the fastest card is...look at the top 20 on the Orb...you will se 2 5900's and 18 Pro/XT's...

And there is not 5900 or 5950 that can compair to my 9800 on air and no v mods...

Personally I trust the opinions of those who rank the highest in ORB.... I dont see 1 59xx. As glock19owner said...that should be an indication of the faith that iplz put in nVidia's FX series

there is none on there now...was 2 5950's...18 and 20th...last week...

Yuriman - and oc550 gets farcry at 182 fps at 1600Xwhatever it is on his ti4200. i'l lstick with my good ol trident blade!(8 mb 1X agp card w/ no heatsink)

nope. the 9800 pro is faster then ANYTHING nvidia has besides their next gen stuff. heck the 9700 pro is faster the majority of the time then the fx5950u.

That has to be the most absurd comment I have ever seen in a forum. Well... not the most, but it's quite gay.

5900 Ultra is faster than the 9800Pro.... and I'm not saying all together, I'm saying OVERALL... and just by a little bit. Don't freak out though.

maybe this will help you.

i found that in 3dmark01 the 9800pro did a better job than the 5950 overclocked, even in 3dmar03

i was always for 5 years an nvidia fan and i was thinking all time that nvidia was better than ati
but last week i wanted to try with a 9800 pro and it was much better

you cant said is lie if you dont test the 9800 pro by yourself

If I happen to find a 9800Pro somewhere, I will do the test myself... but I wouldn't be able to test against the 5900U cause I only have the 5900XT (@445/745).

I don't need anything else right now though... I am happy with my 3DMarks :D
