Rubbish 3D Mark score - what is wrong

Here's my system:
Athlon 1.4
Asus A7M266 mobo
512MB DDR 2100 RAM
Elsa Gladiac GeForce3 DDR

why on earth is my 3D Mark 2001 score so pathetic (1741)?
My SiSoft SANDRA benchmark seems ok.

Any advice?

I don't think your CPU sandra scores will matter all that much. I'd be more concerned as to the memory scores. But more than that, make sure you have 4x AGP enabled? Other than that, I don't know what to do. Perhaps someone a little more knowledgeable will post after me.

Miniport drivers installed?

AGP 4X is definitely enabled in the BIOS, despite SANDRA saying that my AGP data rate is not optimum!?!

Miniport drivers? Er? What are they? Actually, I've been meaning to ask this question. I've heard of miniport drivers and VIA 3 in 1 and 4 in 1 drivers but have no idea what they are, what they do or how you install them or check you are running them. Can anyone tell me please?

You don't want to install the VIA 4-in-1 drivers since you have an AMD 761 mobo with a VIA 686B South Bridge. Whatever drivers you need should be on the CD that came with the motherboard. Check the CD and your Asus manual.

I did actually get a driver cd with the motherboard and it did mention 3 in 1 or 4 in 1 etc. The thing is that I managed to install Win2k just fine without using it so I assumed that they had no real purpose. Should I install the drivers on the cd?

Here is a scan of the contents of the driver cd that came with the mobo. It has the 4 in 1 drivers on there. Should I not install these?

I had the same problem as you. I have a great system in win2k it would score low. I switched to win98 boot and it over doubled my score, try a dual boot, it should help.

did u enable fastwrite and other stuff taht makes the comp faster?

also, try using the geforce tweak utlity found on www.guru3d.com
then select quality settings

Yes install the via 4-1 drivers and when ur asked choose agp in turbo mode. Im 100% it willl help alot!!

On my system 1.1ghz tbird, 512mb cas3 ram and a geforce2mx i get over 2100 point on win2k!! so something is defineitly wrong here.

I also got BAD performance before installing the via 4-1 drivers

Which drivers are you using for the GeForce? I have read that they have an amazing effect on your scores. I have a Radeon VE, I score 2200 with software T&L on(the card doesn't have hardware support). Try updating the drivers and see if that helps.
