i would buy an led fan, look at how they did it, then try to copy it. of course, unless you are trying to make an led fan that you cant buy anywhere, just buying one might be the best idea, eh?

good luck, and if it works, write up a tutorial or something. i'd read it.

Get a 12V LED, put it in series with the 12V line from the fan, epoxy to the right position of the fan (dremel an indentation if you have to). Viola, it lights up when the fan is on.

wouldnt you need a clear housing fan....

no doubt cheaper and much easier(and better looking) to just buy it.

Well, most of those LED fans are LOUD and have very poor CFM to dBA ratios. Of course, you can spray the propeller with UV reactive paint and get a UV LED, that would look nice. :p

I would take four 3v leds, put them in series, and run the string in paralell from the same line that's giving juice to the fan.

Just glue those to the corners, and bam.

I believe wiring one 12v LED in series with the fan which also requires 12v would give 6v to each - not a good thing really.

linkage...

shows how to add leds to a normal fan, its useful when u have grill in the front and what a leds fan but dont want to have to compromise cfm or dba... U could always get white vynl spraypaint and spray the fan what so the led lights look better....

Revoltec makes nice ones, 120mm model pushes 50fcm at 21.5dBa, and the 80mm 25cfm at 21dBa.

They also have louder models.
