mike won't work in counterstrike?

I just got a new mike. My old one didn't work either but it didn't work on any of my computers. It seems to be working fine and I can here myself in the windows diagnostic but when I go to talk in Counterstrike noone can hear me. There aren't a whole lot of options to mess with and there doesn't seem to be any reason why I can't be heard. I'm on broadband with a very good bandwidth so I don't think that's the problem. I also have an audigy 2 plat ex. It's a mike with a 1/4" plug. Does anyone know what I'm missing? Typing in CS is getting old.

this is a really common issue for games not picking up mics, its usualy that they arnet connected right or the computer hasnt setup the right audio channel for the game, u cud try digging in the ini files. but then again i havent played counter crap since 1.6

Anyone have any clue what the problem could be? I could use some help here :)

I have actually run into the same problem in CS. No idea what the problem is. But it would work in UT2kX :(
