ram causes games jerking in general. and really this year nah 512mb isnt enough, i had 1 3200 512mb corsair and battlefieldvietnam was very jumpy on my barton 2500 at 2ghz and a 9800xt, i got another 512 to bring it to a gig dual ddr at 200fsb and never got another stutter, jumping occurs when the system starts caching 'textures' constant jumping is when it cant actually 'load' the things it needs fast enough (eg when ur running virtual ram off your harddrive(windows uses harddrive as memory once u run outta physical ram)) a gig is ideal for gaming atm, i dont know many games that will top 1gig, maybe some big ass flight sims will. but most games wont.

Try defragging your system it'll play out smoothly....i use to get this with 3dmark03 without defragging and it jerks up.....generally defragging and rebooting fixes it.....

Ehh, defragmenting will not improve your gaming performance much. A defrag can modestly improve your load times, but if you are experiencing poor FPS and jerking defragging your HDD will not help - if your system is actively paging then your game performance is basically screwed.

It sounds to me like more ram or lower video settings is what will help.
