Looks like the VGA silencer is mainly for ATI cards. I will be receiving my gainward fx5900 card in the mail soon and would like to flash it to the 5950 bios.
Are there any better coolers out there than the stock? Does anyone know about the stock cooler in this card? It has dual fans which look pretty sweet.

Congratulations on the succesful trade.
Do you play Counterstrike by chance?
Could you possibly test to see if you get the annoying FPS drop that Radeon cards have in CS with your 5900?
I would greatly appreciate it if you could PM me or make a post if you do happen to play CS.
If not...no worries.
And sorry for the off topic post.
Thanks.

Smoke nades tend make my fps drop from the usual 100 to 50.
Sometimes when there is more than one enemy on my screen my fps drops to 70.
In de_aztec my fps drops to under 70 on certain sections of the map.
At the end of each round when the scores and damages are displayed my fps will drop to under 70.
Never had this problem with my FX5600.
I play 1.6 btw.

I was still on 1.4...but never really noticed anything like that either...I definetly would of noticed a drop to around 50FPS...
Which drivers are/were you using...I was using the Omega 4.2's...
I am using the Catalyst 4.4's.
Sorry NinjaZX6R.
At least we kept your thread up top. :)

I checked around...but can not find what needs to be know...what is the thermal wattage rating of the GPU...if you can find this out...might be able to come up with a modded cooling system for it...

How about a 1U copper cpu heatsink?
Drill some holes, use some bolts and springs and nuts.
