Ok

I just got a desktop 2500+ but I cant get it to run stable at 200fsb, I get an error in prime 95 within a second of starting the test, even with the vcore up to 2 volts its still fails within a second.

11 x 200 = 2.2 GHz at 2 vcore (Not Stable fails within a second of starting)
12 x 185 = 2.2 Ghz at default vcore (Stable)
12.5 x 185 = 2.3 Ghz at 1.875 vcore (Stable)
11 x 198 = 2.17 GHz at 1.675 vcore (Stable)

It just wont run stable at 200fsb or over at any voltage I cant see what is holding it back
system specs are

AMD XP2500+ (AQXEA 0324)
256meg Corsair XMS PC3200
Abit NF7-S rev 2.0
And Water Cooling
Thermaltake W0009 PSU

Anyone no what is holding me back from getting to 200fsb?

yea ive tryed different memory slots and it still fails at 200fsb

whats youre memory timmings, basicly what are youre bios settings @

They should @ these settings for best results.

SoftMenu III
- CPU Interface - Enabled
- CPU FSB DRAM ratio: 6/6 (or 3/3)

Advanced Chipset Features
- System Bios Cacheable – Disabled
- Video Ram Cacheable - Disabled

FSB/AGP Spread Spectrum - Disabled
CPU Thermal Throttling - Disabled
Enhance PCI Performance – Enabled
AGP fast write – Disabled (only if u have an Ati video card)

Ok just changed all my bios setting to what CandymanCan told me, and prime 95 still fails Straight away
my memory timmings are 2 3 3 7

Hmm cuss those settings are the ones that yeild the highest fsb but still keeping Cpu Interface on.

Go back to stock speeds and download Memory test 86 install it to a floppy disk (dont extract it thier, just open it up and install it to the floppy disk ) http://www.memtest86.com/

Reboot with the floppy in and let the test run if it fails on stock then its youre memory.

ive just finshed running Memory test 86
and it dosnt fail with every thing at stock
dosnt fail after 7hours at 200fsb
but fails at 210fsb

any one else not whats wrong?

thanks for the help

Im using the lastest bios 24
and i have a rev 2 board

try 201 FSB, or 203 something like that...

Also set your ram timings to the slowest for now, and up them slowly...

When i get a new CPU to overclock is set everything to the most relaxed timings in the BIOS, upping them slowly.

Also make sure spread spectrum is turned off

ok i will give that a try, but what should i set them to im not to good with memory timmings.

I can load into windows with the fsb up to 217 but cant get it stable at any voltage if i got over 200fsb. so i dont think its the cpu thats holding me back

And yea i have spread spectrum turned off

You haven't mentioned what voltage is set for the memory module and chipset.

Have you tried setting memory voltage (Vdimm) to 2.8 or 2.9 V?

Have you also set the chipset voltage (Vdd) higher to 1.6 or 1.7 V?

Ive tryed to get 200fsb stable with
Vcore at 2volts
Vdimm at 2.9volts
Vdd at 1.7 volts

but it still fails prime 95 in a second, these settings dont seem to do anything.
And it dosnt matter how low i have the muitplier it still fails

but can run 198fsb stable with
vcore at 1.675 volts
Vdimm at 2.6volts
Vdd at 1.6volts

and at these settings i primed for 5 hours

Did you set the chipset voltage to 1.7v? Thats what held me under 182fsb. After that 200fsb was a breeze.

yea ive tryed setting chipset voltage at 1.7 still the same.
Its being doing memtest 86 at 205fsb on stock memory voltage and had no errors

Its just hits a wall at 200fsb dosnt matter how much voltage i give anything its still not stable.

ok i found out my problem my Corsair XMS PC3200 memory wont even run at its rated speed.

i set the cpu FSB/DRAM ratio to 6/5

and is priming now at 11 x 215 at 1.7 vcore and seems to been stable so far and the memory is running at 179mhz

so it looks like i need to get some new momery

before you rush out and buy new ram...
you said your timming are 2-3-3-7
try 3-3-3-11 and see if that helps.

Also the -11 is the best timming you can use anyways, yes, for some odd reason its faster than -7

yea thats what im at now, 3-3-3-11 donst do a thing dosnts matter how relaxed i have the memory timmings it will not run over 200

thanks for the help people
