Both of them are on the front page of fileplanet. When I was watching the HL2 one though I saw nothing new at all. It was just the 2003 E3 video cut up. Nope that isnt a bad sign.
Doom3 preview didnt look too great either... I guess farcry has spoiled me. The doom3 gfx just dont look very awsome anymore. And the game play just looks like run and gun all day. Oh well, guess it is too early for me to judge the games.
Your thoughts?

The Doom3 "trailer" looked pretty nice... more like a movie than a game! The HL2 vid was kinda dissapointing though... I wanted to see some new footage!

i think its always a bad sign when there is no word on a demo release and they give you videos to watch to justify for it
Ok why the HELL did they do the doom3 demo on the xbox? It looks like complete **** on there. They should have shown it on a 6500/x800

seriously though, same vids i have seen over and over. If they didn't have anything good to show at E3, I give up until next year. But by then I will have forgotten about them.

I'm still going to buy Doom3, specifically because I don't give a rat's posterior about multiplayer online. D3 is supposed to be about dark and spooky and making you want to soil your boxers; the screenshots generally convey that feeling to me. I still admit to lowering my expectations of it's graphical prowess after playing FarCry, but even FarCry has some things that it could have done better.
Dynamic shadows from multiple lightsources work a LOT better in D3 than they do in FarCry; so do actual dynamic light sources casting much more realistic lighting effects on surfaces. Self-shadowing bumpmaps (basically displacement mapping) should also work in D3 whereas FarCry will hopefully have it as a patch add-on (and still may not actually get it). In essence, I expect Doom3 will have similar framerate performance to FarCry, less "prettiness", and much more technical accuracy. For me, that's an acceptable tradeoff because I actually notice those sorts of things :)
And, I'm definitely a single-player zealot! :D

And I just saw that fileplanet has a new HL2 E3 movie. This one is 664mb (omg....) and I am downloading at 56k on a dedicated 1mb line (OMG OMG!!!!).

^^^ The one that has the interview of that valve guy has 0 new action. It is just the E3 2003 trailer cut into small sections with a few screenshots. Nothing new. I have hope for this massive 600meg thingy. 11% done :D

i dont know why every keeps talking about STALKER or SOLDENR both look amazing, but till they show up and whoomp on HL and DOOM]|[ they are nothing, just empty promises. At least vlave and ID have track records. But same could be said about Valve with HL. Still i just want good games damnit =P

Wow. Finished the download and watched the 30 MINUTE GAMEPLAY MOVIE. I wet myself several times. Sorry farcry, your about to be served :D And HL2 CS....wow. Just, wow.

I played Doom 3 and it is so sweet. Scared the bajesus out of me the first couple times I played it. Such an awesome game.
The reason why I think stalker is going to be such a awesome game is due to the games gameplay. You get to go around buy weapons, save scientists if you want, or even be a bad guy. Half life 2 and Doom III from what I have seen are very linear gameplay. Even though both half life 2 and doom III have huge lvls, the story line still forces the player to go in a certain direction.

There WAS an illegal, warezed, unmentionable-on-this-forum copy of a VERY early alpha version of the game that was a copy of the E3 presentation build. But since it was illegal warez, it cannot be discussed here on this forum -- punishable by shorterm or even permanent banning.
As such, I'd suggest being quiet about it :)

I can't believe I wasted my bandwidth downloading that crappy, pixelated, jaggies-that-you-could-stab-somebody-with video of Doom III on Xbox.
I didn't think it would be possible for Doom III to suck. Now I know it is.

TO be honest, some games belong on PC. Whether it be due to the Graphics or the controller configuration, it belongs and should stay on the PC. Even though It does let alot of people that do not have fast computers play the game, it robs them of the true excellence and potential that the game has. I just hope alot of people do not judge the game through a X-box

I saw the low res version of the hl2 demo. I cant wait to see the high res version. Maybe they will release a BINK version of the actual video.
Carmack said that they only brought the xbox version, because the PC version is in it's final phases. I wouldn't doubt Carmack either, b/c he's one of the few guys who tell you like it is: "The game will be done when it's ready".
I don't trust VALVe and their E3 demo's. They scripted every moment of it and admitted to it, which killed any impressions I had, because for a moment, I thought it might have a pretty good AI. As for the engine, it's the Painkiller engine with a few slight modifications, so really nothing new there.
Doom 3 = New engine, per-pixel collision, and everything else to give you a wetdream.
HL2 = Farcry with a new storyline and slightly smarter AI. Nothing groundbreaking, just upgrades.
That's how I'm seeing it.

Umm. What do you mean HL2 has the same engine as Painkiller. The HL2 Engine was built from scratch and is supposed to be the best out there when its released.

That's heartening. We may see this game in the summer, at which point, I'm booking that day off of work so I can wait in line at the store to purchase it :D

The Havok engine just uses some underpinnings from the Source engine. We saw the Havok engine in Max Payne 2.
The engine that HL2 runs on is called Source. It's completely new, built from the ground up.

The Havok 2.0 is so heavily modified and redone foe HL2 they just called it the source physics engine....although they still have a Havok license. It will be MP2 times 50.
Whatever the games are like. I AM BUYING THEM ALL. I CANT FREAKIN WAIT!!!!

It's the same concept of HL Engine vs Quake1 Engine. Tweaks here and there, add a bit of code you need and label it "heavily modified".

Ooo i hope this is true (about D3 in its final stages ) cuss im about die right now i wanna play something other then Unreal tournmament or Battlefield Gmaes ect. The only thing that keeping me alive are the mods on these games.

THe havok engine is a physics engine. The source engine has the havok physics engine in it, but source is still an independent engine.
