Im sick and tired of this, why wont any Adware or spyware program i have update ?

I had this virus on my computer like a 2 months ago its long gone, but ever since it was on i havent been able to update my Adware and spyware program's.

I want to just reinstall my pc but then again i dont cuss i have so much work that i did on a program called Serius Samurize for MBM5.

How do i get this stuff to update ?

I see 2 reasons why you might not be able to update adaware..

The first could be your host file has changed (I believe it is located in windows/system32/drivers/etc) alot of the newer spyware/adware has been altering your host file to prevent you from updating. if you find odd entries in your host, delete them.

The second could be a virus process itself blocking access to those sites. Though most virii when they block access do it by crashing the offending process.

Well Spybot hasn't had any updates for awhile, so that could also be a reason.

ErikD even whe ni download spybot 1.2, i know thier are Updates cuss my brothers Pc had them i cant veen update, it says coulnt contanct the update site or something like that

i've had problems on an ME machine and an XP machine recently...

i go to update a recently installed copy of spybot, and when i click download it lock up the program.

Bill knows how to fix it, i beleive disabling firewalls and antivirus are required, and run spybot before you try and update to get rid of spyware that might cause it to do that...

also run a full virus scan first.

I think Ad-Aware released a new version of their home version and the old one will not update anymore. The version that I am on that updates is 6.181 personal. Worth checking I guess.

Could check your firewall logs, if you have a firewall running.

On Spy-bot, one one computer updated I have 12k defs and on another I have 13k something updated, not sure why, maybe I have an older version of 1.2 on my laptop. Good luck.
