I have an onboard vid card, and I wanted to run dual monitors.

So i plug in an AGP card, hook one monitor to that, and one to the onboard card.

boot up, it only boots onto the monitor with the AGP

How do I get it to boot on BOTH, and how do i get a certain prog to run on one of the monitors?

thanks

First off, what o/s are you in? Second, some mobos dont support dual-booting from a onboard vid card. From what I have read, it seems as if the onboard is disabled once another vid card is detected, to prevent conflicts.

Usualy dual monitors while using two video cards reqires a AGP video card and a PCI video card. If the onboard one runs on the PCI bus AND supports dual monitors (and with the AGP card you are using) and doesn't get turned off or somthing when you put in an AGP video card, you should be able to do it pretty easily. Just make sure you have the drivers for both cards installed and you should have an option to enable the secondary monitor in windows (the settings tab on the window that comes up when you right click on the desktop and click proporties).

Somtimes video cards that support dual monitors still just plain don't work togeather (for instance my Nvidia TNT-2 doesn't work with my 9600 Pro but it did with my GeForce 4 and my friend's 9700 Pro).
My guess would be that the onboard video on your motherboard is either turned off when you put another video card in or doesn't support dual monitors.

Crash hit the nail on the head, but he missed one thing (well, maybe not missed, but just didn't mention because he basically covered it). If the onboard video is on the AGP bus (which most are), then you can NOT dual monitor with it and an AGP card. With a PCI card, yes, depending on the board and whatnot.

Just thought I'd mention that :)
