Oh man I think I f****d my PC, I just got a p4p800 dlx and stuffed it up somehow so I sent it back and got it replaced(said it was like that when I got it) anyway when I pulled my CPU out of storage three of the pins on it were bent so I sort of straighted them out a little and pushed it in the mobo using a little force. Anyway it got into windows the first time and then froze now it only gets onto the booting windows screen.
My question is do you think the mobos f****d or the CPU or both. My mobo fan isnt working now too. This computers really starting to F**K me off big time. Please help.
Also when I pulled my CPU off my mobo there were little black marks around the holes where I think the bent pins were, not good aye
The probable singed spots are not a good sign. Is there any chance you have access to another processor to test the board. Since the board is POSTing properly and attampting to load windows, it should be fine, but it's good to test as well. As to the processor, you may have shorted it. Is there any chance you can post a small picture of the damaged area? It may help to see what's going on.
Also, please watch the language. We do have filters, but we can read your frustration with other words just as well.

Hi xaotic, sorry bout the language. But very very frustrating as these things tend to be. I will post some pics tommorow and I could probably use my parents CPU aslong as it wont short it that is. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
Just in case, before you put the other processor in, make sure that none of the pins have snapped off of your processor. When inserting the chip remember that the initials for the socket are ZIF, meaning Zero Insertion Force. You might want to take some time and straighten the pins on the old processor as well. You could get lucky and have it still be good. Straightening pins is a pain, but you have to take your time and make sure it's perfect.

My parents CPU worked great, so I spent some time straightening the pins on mine and it seems to be working fine. I wonder what the marks were, maybe something else. Thanks for your help xaotic, I was scared for a while there.

bent pins are a pain but not the end of the world. They key is to be careful and take your time. On my second experience with a PIV and my first with a crap thermal pad left me with a CPU yanked out of the socket with the HSF. Somewhat flusterd and very inexperienced (at least i knew that it was ok for it to pop out like that) i twisted the PIV off of the sink. I bent some pins. Well i got them straight but it took a good ammount of work. Just be tedious and be careful how you hold the chip as you mess with the pins or you could bend more.
