I have recently just started the ever long search for hardware to build my own computer completly from scratch. I am somewhat of a newbee to all of this, and the task to sort through all of the good and bad hardware is daunting.

I wil be working a lot with Graphic design and I am a bit of a gamer so I am looking for at least a 1Gz system with around 500mg ram.

At least I have a bit of a start, I know that I will go AMD because it is far cheaper than intel and almost as good if not better. From what have heard, Leadtek are the best GForce cards out there. And I have my eye on a few mother boards but I am still a bit weary about settling down and choosing one till I get a few recomendations.

If anyone could steer me towards some good stuff (What is good and what will I need), it would be much appreciated. :)

Welcome to the forums!

I think if you browse around here a bit you'll find that a lot of people like the epox 8k7a(+). Also, a 1 gig tbird should do nicely, unless of course you want to go higher. I don't know a lot about video cards, so someone else can add some input there. For ram, you can probably get a couple 256 meg sticks of pc2100. I've had good luck with IBM hard drives, so a 60gxp one should work fine.
After that just fill in your misc. pieces.

good luck

video card, m... the cheapest one i've seen is the Gigabyte i just bought. it's a geforce 3 by the way. i had it last week for little less than $350. ^^ i consister that a good price.
and choose a DVD rom instead of a CD rom, which is not much expensiver.
and i've heard that the kingmax made the best ram. but they r bloody expensive!!!

good luck on your system(i know how exciting it is when you are deciding to buy to a good system) ;)

Corsair is by far the best RAM. :) Get Corsair CAS2 PC2100 if you won't be overclocking, get Corsair CAS2 PC2400 if you will be.
