View Full Version : FSB/AGP/PCI clock relationship on Abit BX6 r2

I just installed an Abit geforce2 t400, and i'm wondering
about the various bus speeds on my motherboard. I am
currently running fsb 133 (pci 1/4... =33), and AGPclk 2/3
(2/3 of 133...=88). Does this sound correct?
My question is: how does this video card know what clock
speed to run its "Core clock frequency" and "Memory clock
frequency"? If i change the fsb speed and AGP divisor on the
motherboard, will this affect the "core" and "memory" speeds
on the video card? There is a utility "The Graphic Max" included
with the video card software which allows adjustment of the
"core" and "memory" speeds. The default speeds are 200 and
167. Will these change if i change the fsb speed? I have seen
other posts where people are running 220/200 for these two
settings. There is no fan mounted to the heatsink on the video
card. I like fans, should i mount one if i intend to overclock? (i
probably will anyway...)
Just wondering... kevin.

Welcome to the forum!

Your numbers for the pci bus look fine, but I *think* the divider for the agp bus would be 1/2. So 133/2 = 66.
changing the fsb speed will not change the core and memory speed on the video card. The motherboard should automatically change the divisor depending on the fsb you have.

That utility you have will allow you to overclock your video card. What you do there will not effect what your fsb does.

It would be a good idea to mount a hsf on the card even if you don't plan on overclocking it.

hope this helps

good luck!
