I was wondering if anybody could help me...

Would it be possible to mix PC2100 DDR with PC133 SDRAM on the Asus A7A266 motherboard?

The motherboard has 2 DDR slots and 3 SDRAM slots, so it looks like you could shove in a stick of DDR and a stick of SDRAM...

But the Asus site says that it is NOT possible to do that...And to confuse things further, I have had suggestions from friends, etc, to say that it could be possible to mix the two RAM types...

So whats the verdict?

first off, Welcome to the forum!

As far as I know, it would be big no no to mix the memory types. If in doubt, you should follow what the website says.

Ddr memory runs at double the rate of sdram so I think it would not be possible.

Don't mix DDR and SDRAM!
SDRAM runs at 3.3 volts while DDR SDRAM runs at only 2.5 volts. That motherboard reads the SDRAM first and applies 3.3 volts to the DDR and FRIES IT.
