View Full Version : OC problem with 266fsb T-bird 1G and AMD 760 chipset
I am having some problemes with overclocking a Tbird 1G 266fsb with the Epox 8K7A+ (which has the AMD 760 chipset). I don't know if this is a bad sign or not. I set my mutli to 9.5 and fsb to 133. Sounds good right? Well here is the problem. I don't know if it's AMD chipset or what. But I think the FSB setting in BOIS changes the fsb of the Tbird. I don't know if this is what is preventing me to hit higher with this chip (axia). I am not sure how many people out there have tried to OC a 266fsb chip and using a AMD 760 chip, but if what I am guessing is right, this is gonna suck.
Would be better if I use 200fsb instead of the 266fsb? I would guess this will decrease the peformance of the whole system, right?

from what I've read on these boards here (so many smart peeps)
the 1ghz t-bird has a locked multiplier. You have to perform what is called the "Pencil Trick" to unlock the multiplier.
I'm still very new at all this, so I'm still learning.. but that is the best info I can give ya right now it being 4:30am and I've still not had any sleep. I'm sure some of these fine folks will be able to help you alot more.
