UPDATE: I had already removed one of my 2 sticks of Crucial PC2100 256 memory. After the post below about crappy memory or mobo, I borrowed an oem generic 256 PC256 stick. My problems now seem to have gone away. I think Crucial has life-time warranty. If so, I wlll RMA this. I am reloading drivers. I do not have round IDE cable. I won this AMD CPU and mobo From AMD a couple of years back here in Houston during an AMD tour stop. My 1st computer build. I also won an AMD 2400 CPU and fan during a later different tour stop. I am about to finish that build. THANKS for your help.

HELP! I have had W2K PRO running on my AMD 1800, MSI K7T266 PRO v1, Antec 300w power supply and case - NO OVERCLOCKING, for 2-3 yrs. Months ago started getting re-boots. Then 56k modem went out (replaced it). Then floppy stopped working. Then started getting "explorer.exe has generated errors". Finally got "inaccessible boot device". Put in new HDD (removed other two) and installed new W2K PRO Service Pac 3. Floppy and modem and system worked fine until ... "explorer.exe has generated errors" started coming back. Also started getting "can not find setup2k.exe". Then "inaccessible boot device" showed on new HDD. Put 2nd new HDD in and did install over again, still getting "can not find setup2k.exe" and "explorer.exe has generated errors", and reboots. Any ideas?

Crappy RAM and/or mobo? I'd check these...

try a different IDE cable... Sounds like the problem slowly started, and now is happening on multiple harddrives, and it does sound like a harddrive problem. I have had problems with round IDE cables before too... so you might wanna try a flat one if your using round.
