I would like an ip addressable device that

1)can discover and talk to other devices like it on a lan
2)generate and respond to an on/off signal
3)controls a 110v ac outlet
4)does not have a cpu/mobo/ram/hd

Basically, I hate x10 and IR controllers and want to be able to simply turn components and appliances on and off.

Does this exist?

There are ways to do this but it (the device) would have to have a cpu,ram and some discrete components plus a power source. Industrial automation devices use stand alone computers and they do not have a HD but they do have some sort of memory. You could also use some type of I/O board from your computer. BTW the next step in industrial automation is wireless controlers but I see problems with this technology being used in heavy industry(interference from everywhere).
