It's almost 4 months since I overclocked my duron 850@1000, then last day when I turned it on, it reported running at 600, it runs normal with its default speed but when I overclock it runs @600. My motherboard is an MSI K7t Pro 2-A, I tried doing the pencil trick again but nothing happens. I suspect its with the battery of the motherboard, please help me. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum

First you can try clearing your cmos. Usually there is a jumper on your board to do that. Next, I would try redoing your L1 bridges. It took me about 5 tries to get them right on one of my friends' chips.

good luck!

I've tried repeating the penciling for about 10 times, and cleared the bios but it didn't fix the problem. Please help.

try this:

1. Clear CMOS.
2. remove CMOS battery.
3. Unplug ATX power connector.
4. Replace CMOS clear jumper.
5. Replace ATX power connector.
6. replace CMOS battery.

I had some problems similar on my MVP3G2 a while back and after I did this they went away.
