Hi all, can anyone tell me what the safe area for the FSB speed on a Tbird 1.4ghz stepping? I don't wnat to ruin my PCIs so what' is the best way to go about overclocking this 1?
This is what I was originally going to do, tell me what to modify:
1.Boost Multiplier a bit. (10.5 is a good start and slowly add)
2.Increase FSB Speed more than a bit but not maxed.
3.Get into Windows and start benchmarking.
4.
a) If everything turns well go back to #1 and repeat 1-3 until you reach the o/c you have aimed for.
b) If your tests fail (crash, reboot, etc…) increase voltage as little as possible. (10-15% OVERALL MAX)
c) If voltage didn’t help or raises temperate significantly go back to #1 with smaller degree changes.
5.Make Sure the temperature is running 50ishºC and bellow. Done!

here is my system so far (haven't bought anything yet):
Abit-KG7-RAID Motherboard
Tbird 1400 AYHJAR Stepping (@-1.8)
OCZ-Implosion FT-700 (over 400 CFM)
256MB PC2100 DDR-SDRAM, 184-pin DIMM
Thermalright SK6 Heatsink/Fan
DVD- 115 16X/40X IDE DVD-ROM
60GB ULTRA ATA-5 DESKSTAR 7200RPM 60GXP
Creative Sound Blaster Live! PCI

I also want to know what good case coolling woud be. do you think this one is good? Has any1 tried it? 400CFM seems plenty but I don't know about watts or volts, what is a good case that will be good for upgrades as well? What are some specs I should have?

Thanx a lot
Your opinion will be much appreciated, good or bad!:) :D :)

Hi.

well, it depends on your mother board. Does the kg7 suppost 1/5 pci devisors?

Anyway, in terms of fsb and your pci cards, you want to raise the fsb as much as possible without putting the pci cards to much out of spec. I've heard that pci cards running up to 38 is boarderline. You want the pci bus to remain as close to 33 as possible. So sometimes increasing the fsb to higher levels inorder to get the pci bus runing closer to spec is good.

Check sandra to see where you're pci is after you change the bus speeds.

Also check your manual and see if the board you want to buy is capable of 1/5 pci dev.

I know some of the epox boards are.

get a good heat sink. and power supply.

I can't find it on the online manual but I am pretty sure I missed it somehwere, does any1 know if the Abit-KG7-RAID supports it?

and by the way, suppose it did, what would that help do?

has any1 ever used this case, it runs about 150 bucks, I wonder if it's worth it. If any1 know of a reliable and tested good case for that price I would love to know. Case is the only thing that's really holding me back from ordering all this, I want to make sure I have everything setup in my mind before I order.
