How do you tell it's working? It doesn't appear to be working at all. Btw I didnt use my forum name as I didn't think of it until afterwards so I'm joined as my name David Rogers Jr

Hmm... what did you do? Did you install the console (dos) client? After installing, run the program. A dos screen will appear, asking for login name etc. Be sure to make it like this:
yourname (www.overclockers.com)

If you didn't do this, close the client (ctrl+c), delete the client.cfg file, and run the client again. Make sure you put it right this time.

Answer the two following questions with yes/no, and it will connect to the server! :)

Wait a couple of minutes, and it will say something like:
Finished a frame (1)
Finished a frame (2)
etc

WELCOME TO OUR TEAM! :)

Does it after awhile show: Finished a frame (1) ?

after you get 100 frames you will get credit. after you send in your wu's you will apear on the search page. Then we can see if your set up right.

Thanks for joining man.

You might want to get electron microscope it makes it easier to see whats going on. its at hardocp.com but for some reason this stupid work computer keeps trying to download the webpage instead of opening it. Its in the files section.

David Rogers (DSL Reports Team Helix)

Thats what I found upon looking under your name. Looks like you just came over to our team. A very wise choice, I came from a dying team myself. Welcome to the team. :)

Or is that your father, since you said jr? If it is your father, hit him
:p

Allan Nielsen

There really is no need to do that... you won't get your first unit with you in the stats if you do so. :(

Please someone respond to this ASAP....Can I shut-down my pc when folding is still working on frames? Will it pick up where it left off or what? I typically shutdown at night and leave it off until I return from work...

AmbientFiction

The folding team dosen't know where the off button is. :D
Yea you can turn it off just make sure you press Ctrl+C to turn it off that saves your work and shuts down the client.

PS: Its cheaper to run a computer 24/7 than to turn it on and off all the time even if your name is stanman. Its takes uses more power to turn you system on and off all day long that to run it all day long.

Not to mention the fact that It probably takes me over an hour to shut them down or crank them all up again, and over half of them are in rooms thay lately have been about 105f. :(

Think my system fold REALLY slow as it's finished thru #66...at the rate I'm going It may take over 24 hrs to fold 100 frames... :(
I have toehr things running though so my pc isn't at idle very much so I suppose that could have something to do with it. What's the lowest setup on the team folding? Comparing time with a setup similar to mine would help.

soyo 5ema+ ...forget what bios edition
amd k6-2 501mhz....default..can o/c it but without temp gauge don't wanna risk it(parts on the way for core upgrade)
128mb pc100 sdram(think its both generics)
voodoo3 3000 16 mb agp @181mhz
20.0gb 5400rpm samsung hdd
SBlive x-gamer (4.1 version)
56k modem(dsl available next month supposedly)
235w psu(unknown maker)

In a few days I'll be running this(some parts scavanged from current system)
soyo dragon
700mhz duron @900? or whatever I can get
256mb pc2100 crucial ddr
voodoo3 3000 16mb agp@181
20.0gb 5400rpm samsung hdd
SB live x-gamer 4.1(will test/compare the built in sound of mb)
56k modem
400w A1 electronics Psu
same mid-tower case that I've modified for more effecient cooling.

There are members running P2-233, and PPro 200's... Just make sure to return the unit within 3 days time, and everything is fine. (If you don't, you won't get credit for the unit!)

If you leave it folding, you should shut down the other programs to speed things up!

Thought I'd let you all know I finished ym first WU and I'm at #14 of the next one.

Is it possible to make the program use a higher % of the processor? Thought if I'm leaving it on 24/7 then when I'm not using my system(only happens when I go to bed or outside of the house). Figure it would boost folding production for those couple hours I'm asleep.

Also how do I check my stats? I'll problem find out somewhere on here so answering will only save me the trouble of finding the information myself which I don't mind doing at all. probably in the read my at the top of the forum whatever it's called...sticky or whate er

I have noticed that my K6-2 475 doesn't turn out really amazing numbers either, I think it has to do with the FPU on the chip. They seem to process a bit slower, but I recently built a Duron 900 Comp that just sail's! So feel free to push the duron, they do folding well. I think it also may have a bit to do with ram, my intel celeron 400 will beat out my 475 why I don't know.

Keep on folding! - Hope that helps answer your question.

Also to find out the stat's all you need to do is click on the folding @ home link in my signature to be taken to our team page, from there the easy way to get to stats is to click on the graph that will the Statsman stat's =)

Hope that clears that up.

AmbientFiction

BBalphaHT UA and all the other lones like that = 5 the new small ones = 3. So in finishing a WU you get either 3 or 5 credits depending on what you fold.
